Dear Voter:
I am running for Dallas County Commissioner because for many years, residents of District 4 have been without a real voice and a real vote on Commissioners Court. When elected, I will be your voice and your vote on Commissioners Court. I will do all in my power to assure that your tax dollars are spent wisely. We need to end the era of policy decisions being made based on narrow ideology that end up costing taxpayers more in the long run. We need sensible leadership providing sensible solutions for Dallas County taxpayers.
Proven Leadership
I have served as District 6 Trustee of the Dallas County Community College District (DCCCD) since 1996. During my service on the DCCCD Board, I have advocated for:
-
Effective outreach and recruitment efforts to increase enrollment in DCCCD colleges, thereby increasing the number of educated workers that Dallas County businesses need
-
Diversity of students, administrators and faculty to represent the demographics of Dallas County
-
Procurement opportunities for small business owners, including minority and women-owned businesses
-
Low taxes and tuition while at the same time maintaining quality instruction and top-notch facilities
-
Ongoing risk assessment of DCCCD operations to ensure effective and efficient management of resources
As Dallas County Commissioner, in addition to other important areas, I will focus on
-
Public Safety: When budget cuts are necessary in tough economic times, we must make sure that we do not compromise public safety.
-
Air Quality & Transportation: Our air quality and transportation problems are interlocked. We cannot bring good air quality for our citizens to breathe without solving our transportation problems. Diana brings sensible solutions to these critical challenges facing our county.
-
Small Businesses: Small businesses are the backbone of our economy. There are many resources in Dallas County to help small businesses grow and develop, but it is not always easy to identify who is doing what. Diana will work to make sure that when small businesses come to register with the county, they walk away with information on all small business resources and agencies available to serve them in Dallas County and the Metroplex.
I have proven myself as a leader in this community, not only through my civic involvement, but also as an elected official. I will bring my experience of proven leadership with positive results to serve you as your County Commissioner. We need sensible leadership on Commissioners Court providing sensible solutions. I ask for your support and your vote. Together, we can change county government for the better. Thank you.
